Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
